Sir,
I have the honour to inform you that I have
appointed Mr. John Johnstone Paterson with effect from the
6th April, 1936, provisionally, and subject to His Majesty's
pleasure, to be an Unofficial Member of the Executive Council
of the Colony in place of Sir W.E.L. Shenton, Kt., who has
tendered his resignation on leaving the Colony permanently.
Mr. Paterson is an Unofficial Member of the
Legislative Council and in this connection I would invite
your attention to the correspondence ending with despatch
No.232 of the 14th June, 1934, from Sir Philip Cunliffe-
Lister (now Lord Swinton).

for this appointment.
